Turkish Man Aged 78 Is to Become Father for 50th Time

ANKARA A Turkish man aged 78 and married to four wives is due to be a father for the 50th time within a few weeks, the news agency Anadolu reported Friday. Abdurrahman Atmaca who lives in a mountain village near Karayazi in the eastern Anatolian province of Erzurum has 49 children, the oldest of whom is 56 and the youngest twins six months, the report said.
He also has 90 grandchildren, the oldest being 30 years old. My wives live in their own houses with their children and I spend each day in one of the houses, Atmaca says. Atmaca's youngest wife is 37 and bore him twins six months ago, Anadolu quoted Atmaca as saying. He said he knew nothing about family planning, but the 50th child would be his last.
